| Résumé : |
Sediment application is becoming a popular practice in South India. Thus, studying its effect on soil health becomes a crucial issue to determine its sustainability. This study uses BioFuncTool to assess soil health through three major soil functions: carbon transformation, nutrient cycling, and structure maintenance, and across three application dates (2017, 2021, 2024), in order to capture temporal variations. However, due to smallholder farming context its high variability, field surveys were conducted to limit this variability and create three scales of analysis: a global scale grouping 29 fields, a cluster scale including fields that received sediments from the same tanks, and finally a paired scale associating each treated field with a control. Despite farmers' saying, sediment application has no significant impact on the soil health defined by BioFuncTool, which measures soil functions. It therefore, would be interesting to expand our study to other more classical analyses, such as texture, cation exchange capacity (CEC), or pH, to observe changes in stable properties rather than functions. |
